This bowl is a rare blue and white porcelain piece produced in Jingdezhen during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1487), featuring an exquisite five-clawed dragon motif. Chenghua porcelain is renowned for its thin-walled, elegant form and soft cobalt blue coloration, and this piece exemplifies these characteristics. The exterior is adorned with a dynamically rendered dragon, meticulously painted with fine brushwork, surrounded by flaming clouds, creating a sense of movement and power. The interior features an auspicious cloud motif, harmonizing with the dragon design on the exterior. The foot of the bowl bears a “Daming Chenghua Nianzhi” mark, indicating that it may have been produced in an imperial kiln. The condition is excellent, with no major chips or cracks on the rim or foot. The glaze remains lustrous, and the cobalt blue decoration retains its clarity and vibrancy. Chenghua blue and white porcelain is extremely rare and highly valued in Chinese ceramic history. This bowl embodies the defining features of the period and is a highly desirable piece for collectors and scholars alike.
