In most cases, this can be resolved by rinsing it with lukewarm water. There are also stains on the foot that appear to be traces of tea residue that have seeped into the clay.
This Japanese black glaze tea bowl, or chawan, features a rich glossy surface with subtle variations formed during firing. The gently uneven rim highlights its handcrafted nature, while the interior reveals natural kiln effects that add depth and character. The exposed clay foot contrasts beautifully with the dark glaze, reflecting traditional Japanese ceramic aesthetics. Ideal for matcha tea preparation, tea ceremony use, or as a collectible piece of Japanese pottery, this chawan embodies refined simplicity, timeless design, and authentic Japanese ceramic art.
