This tea bowl is attributed to the Jizhou kilns in Jiangxi Province during the Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279). It features the kiln’s iconic leaf decoration, created by placing a natural leaf onto the clay body before glazing and firing. The result is a vivid impression of the leaf with its delicate vein structure preserved under the black glaze. The bowl’s interior is finished in a lustrous black glaze that contrasts beautifully with the warm, earthy tones of the leaf form. The vessel is shallow with a gently flaring rim, and the foot remains unglazed, revealing the reddish clay body typical of Jizhou ware. This piece exemplifies the poetic sensibility and refined craftsmanship associated with Southern Song ceramic artistry.
