This piece is a celadon bowl likely produced at the Yaozhou kilns during the Northern Song dynasty (960–1127). It features a densely carved interior decorated with floral motifs, possibly lotus or peony, which are brought to life under a transparent, pale bluish-green glaze. The glaze pools and thins across the carved surfaces, enhancing the depth and texture of the design. The bowl’s form is shallow with a wide rim and a gently recessed center, presenting a harmonious and elegant silhouette. Iron spots around the rim, a common feature of Yaozhou wares, reflect the typical firing characteristics of the period. A network of natural glaze crazing (crackle) has developed over time, adding a distinct patina that speaks to the bowl's age. Yaozhou celadons were highly valued during the Song dynasty for both their functionality and aesthetic refinement, and this example stands as a fine representation of that tradition.
