This is a carved celadon bowl from the celebrated Yaozhou kilns of the Song dynasty (960–1279), known for their mastery in decorating stoneware with molded or incised motifs beneath translucent olive-green glazes. The interior features a delicately incised design, possibly of floral or vegetal scrolls, with combed lines circling the inner wall. The glaze pools in the carved recesses, enhancing the depth and subtle contrast in tone, a hallmark of Yaozhou aesthetics. The bowl is well-potted with a thin body and slightly everted rim, and the neatly trimmed foot reveals concentric wheel marks and an unglazed base—characteristic of Northern Song Yaozhou ware. The condition is very good overall, showing only minor crackle in the glaze from age, and no chips or visible restoration. This piece embodies the elegance and craftsmanship of Northern Chinese ceramics during the 11th–13th century and remains a refined example of functional artistry from the golden age of celadon production.
