This is a Japanese Raku ware tea bowl attributed to the 11th Raku master, Keinyu (1820–1899). It features a boldly compressed form with hand-molded distortions that reflect the wabi-cha aesthetic. The lustrous black glaze exhibits gentle undulations and tonal variations on its surface. The foot is small yet stable, and the base bears an impressed seal mark reading “Raku.” Characteristic of Raku ware, the soft ceramic body and thick glaze emphasize its intended function for tea ceremony. The bowl embodies both tradition and the individual artistry of its maker, representing the late Edo to Meiji period Raku lineage.
