This piece is a Black Raku tea bowl believed to have been created during the Edo period in Japan and attributed to Raku Tannyu (1795–1854), the 10th generation head of the Raku family. The bowl features a shallow form with a slightly flared rim, offering both practicality for whisking matcha and a rustic, hand-molded texture. The black glaze has a subdued sheen, and a yellowish band appears inside the bowl as a result of natural kiln effects, evoking the aesthetics of wabi. On the base, a spiral trimming and an impressed mark characteristic of Tannyu are present. This tea bowl embodies both quiet elegance and the profound spirit of the Japanese tea ceremony.
