This is a work by Kato Koji, who continues to be captivated by and creates pottery inspired by the mystical ceramics of the Chinese Song Dynasty, which possess a strictness as well as a graceful elegance.

born in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, as the eighth generation of the "Shin Gyokuen," a pottery family that has been producing blue and white porcelain for generations.
1980 after graduating from the Craft Design Department of Musashino Art Junior College, studied under Master Morisato Togaku in Kyoto, learning the Mishima hand technique
1985 returned to his hometown of Seto to work with his father, Takatoshi, a leading figure in the creation of oil dropped tenmoku, and began a life of pottery making using iron glaze, celadon, and moon white glaze.
1994 held a solo exhibition at Kyoto Daimaru. participated in solo and group exhibitions in various locations
2009 had his first solo exhibition at Akasaka Yu Gallery
2010 held his second solo exhibition at Akasaka Yu Gallery
