Sanpo means tri-ratna. This bowl was authenticated by Kotani Komei (1913〜1995) who is the superintendent priest of Daitoku-ji, a Buddhist temple. And This was named Sanpo by him.
The Tenth Raku - Tannyu (1795-1854)
The Third son of the Sake maker Ogawa Naohachi, from a village, which is presently Chitosecho in Kameoka-city, Kyoto. Married into the family as the Tenth. Inherited the family headship in 1845. In a low-point for tea ceremony, after the Meiji Restoration, he contributed to the preservation of the family business by providing works to former daimyo noble families.
