A Rare Longquan Celadon Cong Vase, Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368)
Of archaic jade cong form, the robust body masterfully molded with angular flanges along the sides, rising to a short cylindrical neck. Covered overall with a lustrous sea-green glaze of notable thickness, pooling attractively in the recesses and stopping neatly above the foot, revealing the fine greyish stoneware body. The glaze displays a network of crackles, enhancing the sense of antiquity. This piece exemplifies the bold and ritualistic reinterpretation of archaic forms during the Yuan period and reflects the technical sophistication of the Longquan kilns at their zenith.
