Born in Kyoto.
Raku ware potter. In 1957, he entered the Katsura Kiln in Nishikyo-ku, Kyoto, and studied pottery under Yorigami Soshaku.
Since then, he has been making mainly tea ceremony ceramics at Katsura Kiln for more than 30 years, using traditional Raku ware techniques.
