This Qing Dynasty bowl is a beautiful porcelain piece adorned with delicate doucai decorations, showcasing its elegant design and exceptional craftsmanship. Doucai was established during the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty and became increasingly refined throughout the Qing Dynasty. This unique coloring technique involves outlining patterns in underglaze blue (cobalt blue) and then applying vibrant overglaze enamel colors before firing. This bowl is characterized by finely drawn underglaze blue lines, which serve as the foundation for its intricate floral and scrolling vine patterns in vivid colors, resulting in a highly sophisticated finish. The interior of the bowl features a meticulously painted floral motif at its center, while the rim is adorned with a charming sequence of heart-shaped patterns, creating a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing composition.
The foot of the bowl bears the "Da Qing Yongzheng Nian Zhi" mark, indicating that it is an imperial kiln piece from the Yongzheng period (1723-1735). The condition of the piece is exceptionally good, with the glaze retaining its beautiful luster and the colors remaining bright and well-preserved. There are no significant chips or cracks on the rim or foot, demonstrating its excellent state of preservation. The bowl is lightweight and finely crafted, further emphasizing the high quality of its porcelain body.
A doucai bowl from the Qing Dynasty like this one embodies both artistic beauty and functional practicality, making it highly valuable not only as a tea vessel but also as a collectible and display piece. With its timeless elegance, it seamlessly integrates into modern tea settings and interior décor, offering a tangible connection to history. For collectors and tea enthusiasts alike, this bowl represents an exquisite and highly desirable work of art.
