This is a remarkably beautiful celadon bowl with entwined branch motifs from the Longquan kiln. This bowl, crafted in China at the Longquan kiln, is characterized by celadon's unique translucency and the deep green glaze. The surface of the bowl features intricate scrollwork known as entwined branch patterns, which testify to the craftsmen's exceptional skill and artistry. These motifs impart an air of elegance and dynamism to the bowl, leaving a lasting impression on those who admire it.
The exterior of the bowl is adorned with meticulously hand-carved vertical stripes, reflecting the distinctive charm of Longquan celadon. The interior also features intricate carvings, showcasing a consistent beauty throughout the entire piece. The base of the bowl, including the foot ring, is finished with great care and exhibits an excellent sense of balance. Furthermore, the fine craquelure (network of crackle patterns) formed over time adds to its value as an antique.
As for its condition, there are no visible glaze chips or major damages, and it remains in excellent overall condition. While there are slight signs of use, these serve as historical evidence of its past utility and, in fact, enhance its charm as an antique. Items like this are highly valued in the worlds of tea ceremonies and antique collecting. The understated elegance of Longquan celadon also harmonizes well with modern interiors, making it a sought-after piece not only for collectors but also for a wider audience.
