This is a Tenmoku tea bowl crafted during China's Song Dynasty (960–1279) at the Jizhou Kiln in Jiangxi Province. Alongside the Jian Kiln, Jizhou was a prominent producer of Tenmoku tea bowls during the Song era, located in what is now Ji'an, Jiangxi.

A hallmark of Jizhou ware is the "Tortoiseshell Tenmoku" (玳玻天目, Taihi Tenmoku), where a yellowish-white glaze is splashed over a black glaze, creating irregular patterns reminiscent of the tortoiseshell of the hawksbill sea turtle.

This technique results in a unique beauty that changes with viewing angles and lighting, exuding tranquility while maintaining a strong presence.

Through this Jizhou Kiln Tenmoku tea bowl, one can experience the essence of Song Dynasty tea culture and enjoy a rich tea experience.
