Yoshita Minori
1938-
male
kutani porcelain
living national treasure

Born to a family with generations of gold leaf Kutani ware artists, he worked as a pottery artist apprentice under his grandfather after the early death of his father, and succeeded the three generation Kinzangama workshop in 1951.
He was first selected to the Ishikawa Prefecture Art Exhibition in 1964, and flourished in many shows thereafter, appearing at the Issuikai Exhibition in 1978, being displayed at the Japan Industrial Arts Exhibition in 1974, winning the Issuikai award in 1978, receiving the 1982 member award, honorable mention at the 1984 Japan Industrial Arts Exhibition, being awarded the Takamatsunomiya memorial award in 1992, and recieving the Important Intangible Cultural Heritage award in 2000.

Other awards in that time also include honorable mention at Chunichi International Ceramics Exhibition in 1984 and 1985, Award of Excellence at the 1992 15th Traditional Kutani Ware Industrial Arts Exhibition, Intangible Cultural Asset nomination by Ishikawa prefecture, etc.
Furthermore, in 2001 he was awarded the purple ribbon Japanese Medal of Honor, and designated a living national treasure for his Yurikinsai gold underpainting technique. The years around his designation as a living national treasure are marked by many brilliant successes such as the Northern Province Cultural Award, the Ishikawa Prefecture Cultural Merit Award, the 2002 Komatsu City Cultural Award, the 2003 Ishikawa Television Award, etc.
Although he started by producing gold leaf Kutani wares under the guidance of his grandfather, he gradually deepened his study of Yurikinsai to find his own artistic style, creating pieces by applying yellow, blue, violet, etc. glazing to gold leaf. In recent years, he has been enhancing his formality and artistry by completing works embellished with an elegant grey glazed platinum leaf, as well as pieces finished with a thin gold glaze and layered with gold and platinum leaf.

The Company reserves the right to amend these Terms without prior notice. Revised Terms shall take effect upon publication on this website, and continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Payment Methods

Payments may be made by credit card, Google pay, Apple pay and Wise. Exchange rate fluctuations, transaction fees, and any related charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Payments via Wise are accepted only through invoices sent to your Wise account. Wise debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers are not available for use. For further details, please refer to our FAQ Q30. Regarding Payment via Wise.

Appraisal

The Company does not provide authentication or provenance documentation, nor does it conduct scientific age verification or authentication by an artist’s descendants.
All items are sold as-is, based on our research and description, without lifetime guarantees of authenticity.

Shipping and Customs Duties

We ship internationally but cannot ship to countries or regions subject to embargoes or import restrictions. Shipping is free to the United States, Europe, Asia (excluding certain regions), Australia, and New Zealand. For all other destinations, please contact us in advance.

Orders are generally dispatched within three (3) business days, and delivery typically requires approximately one (1) week. The primary carrier is Japan Post (EMS). EMS includes insurance up to the declared value stated on the shipping label.

Import duties, taxes, customs fees, and any other charges imposed by the destination country are the sole responsibility of the buyer. The Company does not assume liability for such costs.

Returns and Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your order after payment has been completed, a cancellation fee of twenty percent (20%) will be deducted from the refund amount. The cancellation fee takes into account the actual international shipping costs incurred as well as payment processing fees.
Returns are accepted within thirty (30) days of delivery if the product remains in its original condition. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility. However, if the item is clearly different from the product photos, we will cover the cost of return shipping.
Any claims regarding authenticity or condition must be submitted within 30 days of delivery. Claims made after this period shall not be accepted.
Returns or refund requests will not be accepted once the item has been transferred, resold, or otherwise passed on to a third party.

Post-Purchase Demands

Once an order has been confirmed and payment completed, the buyer may not impose additional contractual conditions, including but not limited to price negotiations, requests for provenance or authentication, or demands for special guarantees.

The Company may, at its discretion, respond to general inquiries or requests for clarification regarding matters not stated in the product description; however, cancellations based on such matters shall be treated as cancellations at the buyer’s convenience. In such cases, a cancellation fee of twenty percent (20%) of the purchase price will be deducted from the refund amount.

Buyers are required to raise any questions regarding the product prior to purchase.

Refusal of Delivery

If the buyer refuses to accept delivery of the item—whether due to non-payment of customs duties and taxes or for any other reason—such refusal shall be deemed a cancellation at the buyer’s convenience. No refund will be issued in such cases.

Long-Term Storage

Once an item has arrived at the carrier or customs facility and is available for collection, the Company’s delivery obligation shall be deemed fulfilled. Tracking updates indicating “Arrived,” “Held,” “Retention,” or “Available for Pickup” shall constitute sufficient proof of delivery completion.

If the buyer intentionally delays collection or allows the item to remain in storage for an extended period, such conduct shall be treated as equivalent to refusal of delivery at the buyer’s convenience. In such cases, no refund will be issued. Any return shipping fees, storage charges, or other costs incurred shall be the sole responsibility of the buyer.

Products and Pricing

All prices are listed in Japanese yen (JPY) and include consumption tax. Prices for overseas purchases do not include VAT or other foreign taxes. Prices may be subject to fluctuation due to exchange rates.

Damage Reports and Insurance Claims

In the event that an item is damaged during shipping, the buyer may be requested to provide photographs of the packaging and item, or to submit documents required by the carrier. Such cooperation is necessary for the insurance claim process.

If the buyer fails to provide the required cooperation, the insurance claim may become impossible. In such cases, the Company shall not be responsible for providing a refund or replacement.

The Company shall not be held liable for failure or delay in performance due to force majeure events, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, pandemics, or suspension of carrier services.

The Company assumes no responsibility for delays, customs clearance issues, exchange rate fluctuations, or dissatisfaction relating to the use of products.
