The overlapping bands of purple play an elegant rhythm, with glimpses of a blue stripe that sharpens the view in an instant. The gradations of purple revealed by the reflection of light accentuate the richness of colors that is characteristic of Kutani ware. The shape of the vessel draws curves that fit comfortably in the hand while also featuring straight sides that convey sturdiness. It can be said that this piece is a fusion of deep insight into traditional Japanese craftsmanship and skilled technique.
