This is a remarkable Japanese antique hand-crafted Aka-Raku (Red Raku) matcha tea bowl, designed with inspiration from the sacred "Fujiyama" (Mount Fuji). Raku ware is highly celebrated in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony (Chanoyu) for its soft, earthy texture (Tuchiaji) and the deliberate, artistic distortion created during hand-forming, making each bowl completely unique and comfortable to hold.
A standout feature of this vintage bowl is the prominent gold lacquer repair (Kintsugi) along the body. Far from being a flaw, this golden line creates an exquisite visual landscape (Keshiki), celebrating the bowl's historical journey and the care it received over generations.
During the guest appreciation ritual (Haigen), this dramatic Kintsugi line and the rich, textured glaze serve as a fascinating topic of conversation between the host and guests, embodying the essence of Wabi-Sabi. Complete with its inscribed wooden storage box, this collectible Raku chawan brings a profound sense of history, tradition, and tea culture to any practice or collection.
