This is a Japanese Chashaku (tea scoop) hand-carved by Rokuroku-sai, the 11th Grand Master of the Omotesenke tea school.
For practitioners of Chanoyu (Japanese tea ceremony), the Chashaku is a spiritual center of the gathering, and its "Mei" (poetic name) sets the theme for guest interaction. This piece is named "Uun" (Clouds), inscribed elegantly on the matching bamboo storage case alongside the Grand Master's official Kao (signature). While "Uun" evokes powerful imagery of storm clouds, in a traditional tea gathering, it serves as a brilliant poetic catalyst—evoking the refreshing cool breeze that follows a summer shower or the dramatic beauty found in monochrome Suibokuga ink paintings.
The scoop showcases masterful craftsmanship, visible in the strong presence of the bamboo node and the graceful, refined curve of the tip (Kaisaki). The original wooden box (Tomobako) features authentication directly brushed on the inside of the lid by Rokuroku-sai himself. This rare piece allows tea masters to bring deep historical lineage and engaging poetic dialogue to any formal tea gathering. Ideal for collectors of Omotesenke tea utensils and high-end Japanese bamboo crafts.
